Workshops

Would you like to learn how to smock?

Rosalind is a member of the Smocking Branch of the Embroiderer's Guild and has been smocking herself for the past 35 years and teaching the technique to others for about 20 years.

Rosalind holds smocking workshops for small groups of people near Dorchester and also offers individual tuition at her home if preferred.
The total cost for a comprehensive course is £100 and this includes all materials, a set of training notes and refreshments.  You will only need to bring with you a basic sewing kit of small scissors, pins and a selection of needles including crewel needles (pointed, fine shaft and large eye).  There will be suitable equipment for you to use, so do not worry if you cannot bring these things yourself.  Please contact Rosalind for further details.

For those of you who would like a smocking 'taster' course, Rosalind also leads a freestyle smocking sampler workshop to create a postcard sampler and a follow on course making a slip cover for a book with a smocked insert.
Both courses cost £25 per person and include all materials and refreshments.
Please bring with you a basic sewing kit of small scissors, pins and a selection of needles including crewel needles (pointed, fine shaft and large eye), you may also wish to bring your sewing machine. There will be suitable equipment for you to use, so do not worry if you cannot bring these things yourself.
